The Romania workshop exposed participants to a diverse range of temperate soils, including Chernozems, Luvisols, and Fluvisols, shaped by both natural processes and long-term agriculture. The community focused on refining classification criteria for fertile soils with strong structure and organic matter content. Discussions addressed the differentiation between similar soil groups and the interpretation of diagnostic horizons in cultivated landscapes. The workshop also highlighted the role of soil classification in agricultural management and land evaluation. Participants worked collaboratively to harmonize field descriptions and improve consistency in WRB application. The meeting reinforced the importance of Central and Eastern European soils in the development and testing of classification systems.
