Ireland 2014

The Ireland workshop focused on humid temperate soils with strong influence from rainfall, vegetation, and glacial history. Participants examined soils such as Gleysols, Podzols, and Cambisols, often characterized by poor drainage and organic matter accumulation. The community worked on refining diagnostic horizons related to waterlogging and soil structure under wet conditions. Discussions also addressed the classification of soils used for grassland and agriculture, highlighting the link between soil properties and land management. The workshop emphasized the importance of clear field indicators and consistent interpretation. Overall, it contributed to improving WRB application in humid environments and reinforced the value of field-based collaboration.
